(प्रदीप कुमार) देश की राजधानी दिल्ली में पहला अंतरराष्ट्रीय फिल्म महोत्सव कुछ खट्टी मीठी यादों के साथ आज सफलतापूर्वक संपन्न हो गया।भारत मंडपम में 25 से 31 मार्च 2026 तक आयोजित इस सप्ताह भर के फिल्म महोत्सव में 130 से अधिक वैश्विक और भारतीय फिल्मों का प्रदर्शन किया गया, जिसमें मास्टरक्लास और सिनेवर्स एक्सपो भी शामिल था। यह आयोजन लोगों को अगले आयोजन के लिए प्रेरित करने में सफल रहा। समापन समारोह में मुख्य अतिथि के रूप में उपराज्यपाल तरणजीत सिंह संधू, विशिष्ट अतिथि मुख्यमंत्री श्रीमती रेखा गुप्ता, पर्यटन मंत्री कपिल मिश्रा, डीटीटीडीसी के एमडी एवं सीईओ सुनील अंचीपाका और महोत्सव के निदेशक राकेश ओमप्रकाश मेहरा उपस्थित रहे। इस अवसर पर मुख्यमंत्री रेखा गुप्ता ने कहा, “दिल्ली देश का दिल है, एक ऐसा शहर जो सभी को अपनाता है और जहां इतिहास के साथ भविष्य की उम्मीदें भी बसती हैं। यह फिल्म महोत्सव सिर्फ एक आयोजन नहीं, बल्कि राजधानी की नई सांस्कृतिक पहचान बनाने की दिशा में एक कदम है। सिनेमा लोगों को जोड़ने और प्रेरित करने की ताकत रखता है।” पर्यटन मंत्री कपिल मिश्रा ने कहा, “इस फिल्म महोत्सव की परिकल्पना पिछले वर्ष बजट चर्चा के दौरान की गई थी, जिसे मुख्यमंत्री के नेतृत्व में साकार किया गया। हमारा लक्ष्य दिल्ली को न सिर्फ राजनीतिक राजधानी, बल्कि भारत की सांस्कृतिक राजधानी के रूप में स्थापित करना है।” माननीय उपराज्यपाल ने कहा कि यह महोत्सव दिल्ली की बदलती सांस्कृतिक पहचान को दर्शाता है और यह मंच देश-विदेश के कलाकारों और दर्शकों को एक साथ लाया है। महोत्सव के निदेशक राकेश ओमप्रकाश मेहरा ने कहा, “यह सिर्फ फिल्मों का मंच नहीं है, बल्कि उन भावनाओं और संवादों का भी मंच है, जो ये फिल्में लोगों के बीच पैदा करती हैं।” ‘नाइट ऑफ ऑनर्स’ की शुरुआत वंदे मातरम से हुई, जिसके बाद राष्ट्रगान, दीप प्रज्वलन और औपचारिक संबोधन हुए। अभिनेता अनुपम खेर ने सिनेमा को समर्पित अपनी प्रस्तुति से दर्शकों को भावुक कर दिया, वहीं रिकी केज के संगीत ने माहौल को और खास बना दिया। इस अवसर पर समारोह के निदेशक राकेश ओमप्रकाश मेहरा और IFFD प्रीव्यू कमेटी के चेयरपर्सन सुनीत टंडन को सम्मानित किया गया। सिंगापुर इंटरनेशनल फिल्म फेस्टिवल के प्रतिनिधिमंडल का भी विशेष स्वागत किया गया। ‘शोले’ के 50 वर्ष पूरे होने पर निर्देशक रमेश सिप्पी को सम्मानित किया गया, वहीं अंतरराष्ट्रीय अभिनेता एनरिके आर्से की मौजूदगी ने फेस्टिवल के वैश्विक स्वरूप को दर्शाया। इस मौके पर एआई फिल्ममेकिंग हैकाथॉन के विजेताओं को भी सम्मानित किया गया और उनकी फिल्म प्रदर्शित की गई। ‘कैपिटल्स प्राइड’ के तहत गुनीत मोंगा, टी. पी. अग्रवाल और दिव्या दत्ता को सम्मानित किया गया। भूमि पेडनेकर को ‘एक्टर विद अ मिशन’ के रूप में सम्मानित किया गया। फिल्म पुरस्कारों में ‘सैयारा’ को ‘पाथब्रेकिंग फिल्म ऑफ द ईयर’ और ‘सितारे जमीन पर’ को ‘मोस्ट इंस्पायरिंग फिल्म ऑफ द ईयर’ चुना गया। ‘तन्वी द ग्रेट’ के लिए अनुपम खेर को सर्वश्रेष्ठ निर्देशक और शुभांगी दत्त को सर्वश्रेष्ठ डेब्यू अभिनेता का पुरस्कार मिला। ‘धुरंधर’ के लिए रणवीर सिंह को सर्वश्रेष्ठ अभिनेता और आदित्य धर को सर्वश्रेष्ठ निर्देशक का सम्मान मिला। फिल्म महोत्सव को देशभर के दर्शकों की मिलजुली प्रतिक्रिया मिली। चूंकि यह कार्यक्रम दिल्ली में पहली बार आयोजित किया गया इसलिए कुछ खामियों का होना स्वाभाविक था। वेबसाइट ढंग से काम नहीं कर रही थी, फिल्मों, विशेष रूप से धुरंधर-2 और शोले जैसी फिल्मों की स्क्रीनिंग की जानकारी भी समुचित रूप से प्रचारित प्रसारित नहीं की गई, शुरू के दो दिन के बाद मीडिया को खाने या चाय तक के लिए भी तरसना पड़ा। आदित्य धर और विवेक रंजन अग्निहोत्री जैसे फिल्म निर्देशकों की कमी खली। आशा है कि आयोजक अगले आयोजन में अपनी गलतियों से सीखेंगे, आलोचना को सकारात्मक रूप से लेंगे और इन कमियों को दूर करेंगे। समय बहुत तेज़ी से बदला है और उसी के साथ फिल्मी दुनिया भी बदल रही है। आयोजकों को मात्र आमिर ख़ान जैसों पर निर्भर रहने के बजाय सामयिक और लोकप्रिय फिल्म निर्माताओं और निर्देशकों को भी महोत्सव से जोड़ना होगा। अतीत में राजधानी में भारतीय अंतरराष्ट्रीय फिल्म महोत्सव आयोजित होता रहा लेकिन दुर्भाग्य से अब वह गोवा का होकर रह गया। अगर आयोजक सुधार करें और इसे नियमित रूप से जारी रखें तो दिल्ली अंतरराष्ट्रीय फिल्म महोत्सव उस कमी को पूरा कर सकता है।

From Shekhar Kapur to Divya Dutta, the festival drew star power, packed houses, and a high-energy expo floor New Delhi : Day 4 of the International Film Festival of Delhi (IFFD) 2026 emerged as one of the most dynamic days of the festival so far, bringing together leading voices from across the industry, packed screenings, and an expo that remained active throughout the day. The festival welcomed a strong line-up of celebrated names, including Samyuktha Menon, Khushbu Sundar, Divya Dutta, Arjan Bajwa, Rituparna Sengupta, and Shekhar Kapur. Their presence drew large crowds and heightened media attention across venues, adding to the day’s overall buzz. At Bharat Mandapam, screenings played to packed houses through the day. Films such as Virupaksha, Puratan, and Aranmanai 4 set the pace early, while Jana Gana Mana drew a strong evening turnout. Parallel screenings in Audi 2, including Bohorupi, Maa, Demon Hunters, and Guru Nanak Jahaz, underscored the festival’s wide-ranging programming across languages and genres. Beyond the screenings, the IFFD Expo remained a lively hub, with steady footfall and conversations across stalls and installations. Bringing together film bodies, creators, and cultural showcases, the space extended the festival experience beyond cinema halls into a dynamic environment of exchange and discovery. The festival’s city-wide footprint continued to drive strong turnout, with PVR theatres across Jasola, Rajouri Garden, Dwarka, Pitampura, Shalimar Bagh, Moti Nagar, and Chanakyapuri seeing consistent audiences through the day. A diverse slate featuring MoromorDeuta (Dear Father), Phoujee (The Goddess of Paddy), If on a Winter’s Night, and Aar Paar kept audiences engaged, alongside curated selections such as Tiger Tiger, What If I Tell You, Baab, and a cluster of independent films at Jasola. A standout moment on Day 4 was the masterclass by K. K. Senthil Kumar, which drew a packed audience of filmmakers, students, and cinephiles. Focusing on the collaborative nature of filmmaking, he highlighted the importance of aligning closely with a director’s vision. “Every film will have its own distinctive features,” he noted, adding that it is the director’s perspective that ultimately shapes a film’s visual identity. The session resonated strongly with attendees, emerging as one of the most engaging conversations of the day. Early morning screenings, including Father Mother Sister Brother, Romantic Affairs; and Thanthapperu – Life of a Phallus, set a distinct tone, balancing independent storytelling with larger cinematic narratives. Looking ahead, Day 5 promises to build on this momentum. The line-up includes screenings such as Ahilya: Zindagi Ekaki, Aisa Pati Mujhe De Bhagwan, and a restored screening of Sholay, alongside a fresh slate across city venues featuring titles like Diamonds in the Sand, Baraat, and The Ugly. The day will also feature sessions led by Bhumi Pednekar on purpose-driven cinema, Anupam Kher on performance and longevity, and Divya Dutta on women in digital storytelling. For Delhi audiences, the day offered more than just screenings; it created a shared cultural moment across the city, where cinema became both a collective experience and a point of conversation. From early-morning shows to late-evening sessions, the festival drew students, families, and film enthusiasts, reinforcing its growing connection with the public. With strong footfall, visible enthusiasm, and a programme that continues to connect industry and audiences, Day 4 further cemented IFFD 2026’s position as a city-wide celebration of cinema at scale.

At International Film Festival Delhi (IFFD), a Unique Fashion Showcase Highlights ‘Ek Bharat, Shreshth Bharat’ to a Global Audience ‘The Loom & The Lens: Weaving Stories. Framing Legacy.’ Brings Handloom and Cinema Together at IFFD 2026 New Delhi : On the sidelines of the International Film Festival Delhi (IFFD), a grand and evocative fashion showcase titled ‘The Loom & The Lens: Weaving Stories. Framing Legacy.’ was organised by Delhi Tourism, Government of Delhi and the Development Commissioner (Handlooms), Government of India, in collaboration with Shikha’s Kariigarii. Held at the Open Air Amphitheatre, Bharat Mandapam, the showcase brought together the timeless narratives of Indian handloom and cinema in a visually compelling and culturally resonant presentation. Speaking on the occasion, Hon’ble Chief Minister Smt. Rekha Gupta said:“IFFD Delhi is a celebration of cinema, India’s cultural imagination and storytelling legacy. Initiatives like ‘The Loom & The Lens’ beautifully position Delhi as a confluence of heritage and modern creativity, where traditional art forms such as handloom find renewed expression through contemporary platforms like cinema. This is how we present India’s cultural depth to the world which is vibrant, rooted and forward-looking.” Smt. Gupta further added“Handloom and cinema are two of India’s most powerful storytelling traditions—one woven through threads, the other through frames of light. Together, they preserve our collective memory and identity. The saree, in particular, has remained an enduring symbol across generations, gracefully capturing the spirit of India in both everyday life and cinematic expression.” Hon’ble Tourism Minister Shri Kapil Mishra said:“The International Film Festival Delhi is emerging as a global cultural platform, and through initiatives like ‘The Loom & The Lens’, we are expanding its canvas beyond cinema. This showcase reflects the spirit of ‘Ek Bharat, Shreshth Bharat’ by bringing together diverse handloom traditions from across India and presenting them through the powerful medium of fashion and film.” Shri Mishra further added“Delhi Tourism is committed to promoting such innovative cultural integrations, where handlooms, cinema and creative industries converge. The way it seamlessly wove together cinematic nostalgia, regional handloom diversity and artistic expression into thematic sequences is truly commendable. Platforms like IFFD enable us to showcase Delhi not just as a host city, but as a vibrant cultural curator connecting tradition with contemporary storytelling.” The fashion presentation featured three thematic sequences: The opening sequence, “Handloom to Silver Screen,” revisited iconic saree drapes inspired by memorable cinematic moments from the 1940s to the 2020s, highlighting how Indian films have played a pivotal role in popularising the saree as a symbol of elegance and cultural identity. The second sequence, “From the Weavers of India,” showcased the rich diversity of Indian handlooms—from Tussar and Gheecha of Chhattisgarh to Banarasi Butidar of Varanasi, Lachcha Buta of Mubarakpur, Chanderi of Madhya Pradesh, Venkatagiri of Andhra Pradesh and Kuthampully of Kerala—each representing the living traditions and craftsmanship of India’s weaving communities. The grand finale, “Ek Bharat, Shreshth Bharat – A Tribute to Vande Mataram,” presented Shikha’s signature collection of hand-painted handloom sarees inspired by traditional Indian art forms including Pichwai, Pattachitra, Warli, Gond, Madhubani, Assamese traditions and Chittara art. Marking the 150th anniversary of the iconic song Vande Mataram, the finale transformed the ramp into a moving canvas of national pride, unity and artistic expression, set to its stirring notes. Appreciating IFFD and the support from the Delhi Government, Dr. M. Beena, Development Commissioner (Handlooms), said“It is heartening to see handloom being integrated into a global cultural platform like IFFD. Such initiatives help present handloom in innovative formats, linking it with cinema and storytelling, while reinforcing its relevance in today’s cultural and creative economy.” Expressing her gratitude, Shikha Ajmera, artist, fashion designer and promoter of Shikha’s Kariigarii, said“For me, a saree is not just a garment, but a moving canvas. Through this showcase, we have attempted to bring together the narratives of loom and lens, where tradition meets storytelling, and art becomes a lived experience.” Shikha’s Kariigarii continues to work closely with nationally recognised artisans, transforming traditional art forms into wearable expressions while ensuring sustainable livelihoods and preservation of heritage crafts. Directed by fashion director Mr. Sandesh Navlakha, with expert choreography and styling, the showcase culminated in a visually immersive and emotionally stirring experience, earning widespread appreciation from audiences and dignitaries alike.The evening stood out as a defining moment at IFFD Delhi 2026, where fashion transcended aesthetics to become a powerful medium of storytelling, culture and national pride.

From sharp industry debates to a deeply personal Piyush Mishra masterclass, Day 3 brought together ideas, audiences, and artists in one of the festival’s most dynamic days New Delhi : Day 3 of the International Film Festival of Delhi (IFFD) 2026 unfolded with a sense of momentum that was impossible to miss. Auditoriums remained full, conversations extended beyond their scheduled time, and audiences transitioned between screenings and sessions with the vibrant energy characteristic of a festival in full swing. What stood out was the balance of rigorous industry dialogue on the one hand and emotionally resonant cinema on the other, both feeding into each other throughout the day. The CineXchange Dialogues opened with a sharp, forward-looking conversation on the changing trends of film distribution in India. Sanjay Ram, Anil Thadani, GP Vijayakumar and Gayathiri Guliani mapped the shifting terrain where theatrical, OTT, and hybrid models now coexist. The discussion moved beyond surface-level observations, touching on risk recalibration, regional market expansion, and the growing importance of targeted release strategies in a fragmented viewing ecosystem. Distribution today is no longer a backend function; it is central to how films are imagined, positioned, and experienced. The focus then shifted to independent cinema, with filmmaker and moderator Vinta Nanda leading a conversation on funding, distribution, and sustainability, featuring Aranya Sahay, Tanmaya Shekhar, Molshri, Barnali Ray Shukla, Pubali Chaudhuri and Dimple Dugar. The discussion highlighted the need for collaboration and alternative pathways for independent filmmaking. One of the most closely followed sessions of the day, ‘Made in Korea: From Seoul to South Asia’, brought a global lens to the dialogue. Moderated by Puja Talwar, with Ra Karthik, Sagar Pentela, Priyanka Mohan, Hojin Noh, Tae Keun Song and Hyojin Lee in conversation, the session unpacked the growing synergy between Korean and South Asian industries. The discussion moved fluidly between craft and commerce, from production ecosystems and training frameworks to the rising appetite for culturally rooted yet globally accessible stories. The idea of collaboration here felt immediate and actionable, not aspirational, signalling a shift in how regional industries are beginning to think beyond borders. The day, however, found its emotional and creative peak in Piyush Mishra’s masterclass, ‘Kahani, Kavita Aur Cinema’, moderated by Mayank Shekhar. More than a session, it unfolded as a deeply personal reflection on the many lives of an artist who has consistently refused to fit into a single box. A rare voice in Indian storytelling, Mishra’s work bridges theatre, cinema, and music, often carrying a political edge while remaining deeply personal. Reflecting on his journey, he said, “I thought I had arrived too early at NSD, and that arrogance cost me years. Everything I’ve learned as an artist is largely self-taught and has come from unlearning it. Pain is necessary for an artist; without it, nothing real comes out.” He spoke about his formative years in Delhi’s Mandi House, describing it as chaotic yet generative, a space where his artistic instincts took shape. His time at the National School of Drama brought early recognition, but also, as he admitted, a phase of overconfidence that slowed his growth. From apolitically charged work like Gagan Damama Bajiyo, his theatre years continue to anchor his artistic identity. The session moved fluidly between reflection and performance, with Mishra reciting poetry and drawing connections between verse and cinema. Closing on a high, he broke into Aarambh Hai Prachand, turning the room into a shared moment of energy and recall. It was a masterclass that went beyond craft, offering an unfiltered insight into an artist shaped by memory, conflict, and constant reinvention. Running parallel to these conversations, the film programme sustained a steady, enthusiastic turnout. At Bharat Mandapam, Gondhaal opened the day with its unsettling psychological narrative, setting a strong tone, with director Santhosh Davakhar and actors Ishita Deshmukh and Diksha Davakhar present for the screening. Last Film Show – Chhello Show, introduced by Pan Nalin, received a warm and engaged response, especially from younger viewers drawn to its love for cinema itself.
