Laurene Powell Jobs to Join ISKCON Dwarka’s Maha Kumbh Initiative, Honoring Steve Jobs’ Enduring Gratitude to ISKCON

Laurene Powell Jobs, philanthropist and widow of Apple co-founder Steve Jobs, is set to participate in the upcoming Maha Kumbh Mela 2025 in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh. She will actively engage in ISKCON Dwarka’s ambitious prasadam distribution program, which aims to provide large-scale meals and support to millions of pilgrims.

ISKCON Dwarka, in collaboration with the Adani Group, plans to distribute 2 lakh meals daily on the three sacred Amrit Snan days and 60,000 meals daily throughout the event. This initiative extends not only to pilgrims but also to sanitation workers, emphasizing inclusivity and selfless service.

Laurene’s association with ISKCON is rooted in the deep gratitude Steve Jobs expressed for the Hare Krishna movement during his lifetime. Jobs often spoke about the solace and sustenance he found at ISKCON temples during his struggling days. In his iconic 2005 Stanford commencement address, he recounted walking seven miles every Sunday to enjoy the sanctified vegetarian meals served by ISKCON. “The food was not just delicious; it was prepared with love and devotion. That made all the difference,” Jobs had said, crediting these meals as a cornerstone of his resilience and success.

Laurene Powell Jobs’ participation reflects a personal and spiritual homage to her late husband’s enduring connection with ISKCON. She recently visited the Kashi Vishwanath Temple in Varanasi and received the Hindu name ‘Kamala’ from Kailashanand Giri Maharaj of Niranjani Akhara, who described her as “like a daughter.” Laurene’s second visit to India signifies her growing affinity with Indian spiritual traditions.

The Maha Kumbh 2025 will not only see spiritual seekers from across the globe but also witness global figures like Laurene Powell Jobs embracing the ethos of seva (selfless service). Her participation is expected to inspire millions, drawing attention to the cultural and spiritual legacy of the Maha Kumbh and ISKCON’s invaluable contributions.

As the preparations for the grand event unfold, ISKCON Dwarka’s initiative promises to uphold the timeless values of service, compassion, and unity, while paying tribute to the enduring legacy of Steve Jobs and his gratitude to the Hare Krishna movement.
